“When you’re miserable, you need to make someone even more miserable than yourself.”

I’ve had pretty bad luck with finding any good anime series so a year ago my friend recommended Elfen Lied:

I was instantly hooked on this series after witnessing the glory of the first episode and I just recently was able to get a hold of the rest of the 13 episode series. My viewing experience was amazing, I seriously watched the last 2 discs straight through because I was on the edge of my seat to find out what would happen.

If you’re a fan of secret ultimate killing machines designed by the government, gruesome fight scenes with classical music, ruthless cyborg assassins, teen-age romance, awkward moments or even just girls with pink hair, then Elfen Lied is a series for you. There is a lot of gore and nudity (which I love) , but when contrasted with the love triangles and girly crushes (which boyfriend loves), Elfen Lied has something for everyone. Overall the animation, music, writing, fight scenes, everything! was extremely well done and now one of my all-time favorites.

  1. IMHO, the things you’ve mentioned (killing machines, cyborg assassins, teen-age romance etc.) is the tip of the iceberg.

The most important idea is that…

    *** SPOILER ***

…this movie is about a REAL HUMAN girl who is somewhat different from others and who suffers a lot because of that. This girl wants to love, to laugh, to have friends, in other words to be normal. Meanwhile her environment bothers solely her appearance but not spirit.
